Cooking & Entertaining
Summer is definitely a great season for picnics, swim parties, hosting BBQs and entertaining. Fortunately, all of these events take place outdoors and not in your kitchen. This gives you ample opportunity to tear the kitchen apart to get to work on your dream kitchen remodeling project, while still being able to eat and entertain during the project, as the weather is much more forgiving than in the spring and fall months. In fact, with the right grill – meaning one that has side burners – you won’t need your kitchen at all to prepare delicious and healthy meals. This is the first reason summer is the perfect time for remodeling your kitchen.
Ventilation
Although many people choose to remodel kitchens during the spring and fall, there is one concern – weather and ventilating. During the summer, you can open the windows and doors to let the dust out, dry paint, tile flooring, and granite countertop installations. Each of these events can be difficult to contend with during the spring and fall months, when the weather is wet and/or cold, and difficult to deal with. Summer allows for warm dry air most of the time, which helps during the remodeling process.
Family Vacations
If you are choosing a contractor you trust, you have a definite advantage during the summer – going on vacation. Summer is the most popular season for taking a family vacation, going camping, or heading to the golf course. With the family out of the way – so to speak – you and your contractor will be able to work without interruption. Not only does this provide you with a more focused mind, but it allows the project to run more smoothly. This is yet another reason why remodeling a kitchen during the summer is a great idea.
Natural Lighting
Another great benefit to choosing to remodel your kitchen in the summer is natural lighting. When you are looking at cabinets, granite countertops, and flooring during the spring and fall, you are limited on natural lighting. This means that you are viewing these materials in only fluorescent lighting, which can give you the wrong idea about what color something really is. This allows you to see how your design choices will look when the sunlight is shining through your windows.
Besides, being able to look at things with more natural light allows their natural beauty to shine through. In addition, you will have the ability to close the curtains to see how these materials will look the rest of the year, when sunlight is limited. This allows you to get the exact shades of flooring, granite countertops, and cabinets you desire to complete your kitchen remodeling project.
Remodeling your kitchen is a big decision, and having the right amount of time, the right contractor and the perfect season can make all the difference. As you have learned, spring and fall are the traditional times of year that kitchen remodels take place. However, there are many benefits to having this project completed during the summer. From being able to use your outdoor kitchen during the process, or sending your family on vacation to avoid interruption, to having natural lighting... summer is the perfect season for a kitchen remodel!
