Homeowners Love Granite Kitchen Countertops

Are you planning a kitchen remodel in the near future? Are you considering Granite for your countertops? No matter what material you are considering we will give you the reasons why granite is and has been the popular choice among homeowners. Two well know reasons are because of their natural beauty and minimal maintenance. Keep reading to learn why more and more homeowners are installing granite countertops in their homes.

Granite Slabs are Unique

For homeowners looking for a countertop surface design that’s completely unique to their home, granite can be a great material. All granite slabs are unique.
Granite comes in many different colors to fit your design preferences and the interior design of your home. For example, black granite countertops give your kitchen a touch of sophistication and luxury.

Adds Value to Your Home

Whether you are looking to sell your home in the near future or you are planning on staying in your home for many years to come, there are many benefits of granite countertops. Not only do granite countertops add a classic ambiance to any kitchen, but they are also attractive to prospective home-buyers. For example, if a home-buyer is looking at two similar houses in the same price bracket, they are more likely to choose the home with newly-installed granite countertops
According to HGTV, minor kitchen remodels (like granite countertop installation) offer a return on investment of approximately 92.9%. To determine if granite countertops are the best kitchen remodel for your money, we recommend that you contact us to discuss your options. Replacing kitchen countertops can help improve the look of your home for years to come.
Low Maintenance Countertops
Maintenance for granite countertops is minimal. Simply clean your countertops with hot water and mild soap. Since granite is less porous than other countertop materials, such as marble, the chance of staining is significantly less. However, if you do stain the surface of your granite countertop, we recommend that you make a paste out of baking soda and water and gently try to scrub the stain out with a soft washcloth. This simple trick takes care of most granite countertop stains.
Sanitary Surfaces
Granite countertops are resistant against bacterial contamination. This means that you can prepare and cook with confidence, knowing that your family is protected from strains of bacteria living on your countertop surfaces. Of course, it’s also important to exercise food safety habits, such as cleaning kitchen countertops before and after use meal preparation and cooking.

Kitchen Islands

Kitchen Islands give Beauty, Durability and Function to Kitchens of all shapes and sizes.

An island can enhance your kitchen in many ways, and, with good planning, even smaller kitchens can benefit.

A kitchen island is often seen as an extension of your countertops. Many times, people crowd their countertops with appliances, dishes, utensils, and more, leaving little room to prepare food. This is where a kitchen island comes in. It creates additional countertop space with vital storage underneath.

If you have the extra room, you might want to consider adding a combination kitchen island/breakfast bar to your space. This combination is considered the ultimate kitchen furniture when it comes to multitasking in the kitchen. A kitchen island with a breakfast bar allows you to have the extra storage space you need for food prep, and a table to bring everyone together. In fact, many individuals with kids choose this option, as it allows the kids to visit or work on homework while their parents are preparing dinner and helping.

I'm Dreaming of a White Kitchen

Bright, Cheery, and Timeless...                                                    White remains the Kitchen Color of Choice

Light and Bright

"Lighter and brighter," is considered to be a buzz-word associated with white kitchens, and there's a scientific reason for this. Light Reflectance Value (LRV) is a measurement of how much light a color reflects. The higher the LRV, the more light it reflects, and the more light will be available in a room. Not surprisingly, White has an LRV close to 100%, while absolute black has an LRV of 0%. If your kitchen lacks access to natural light, or you want to capitalize on the light that is available, white finishes are the best way to do it.
I'm dreaming of a white kitchen !

Fresh and Clean
In truth, white countertops and cabinets aren't any fresher or cleaner than their darker contemporaries. But, again, this value is more about illusions and associations. Cleanliness and good hygiene are valuable kitchen attributes and it's hard to hide dirt, food stains and mold/mildew on white surfaces.  Bright, white kitchens are equated with a clean and safe place to sit down and eat without a thought of contagion.
I'm dreaming of a white kitchen !

White is Timeless
When it gets right down to it, white kitchen cabinets are timeless. They have been a top trend for years, and even decades. This is important because designing a gorgeous timeless kitchen means you only have to remodel once or twice in a home's lifetime. Plus, white cabinets are an easier sell for future home buyers.
I'm dreaming of a white kitchen !

What you need to know when choosing a stone countertop fabricator!

When choosing a fabricator for your stone countertop, choose an experienced fabricator who will go above and beyond to give you the best from your natural stone slab.
Stone countertop fabricators really are artists! The experienced ones really know what they are doing in the many steps of creating your custom stone countertop. Every stone slab is different in flow, pattern, quality and color, meaning you can't treat all of them the same. An experienced fabricator will give you the best placement, without obvious breaks in flow, pattern and color. A virtually seamless stone countertop could be yours when you choose a talented, experienced fabricator!

How do I clean my granite countertops?

    SOAPY WATER AND SOFT CLOTH

    Yes, it's that easy!

The best way to clean granite countertops is by mixing a little dish detergent and warm water. This soapy mixture followed by rinsing and then drying with microfiber cloths will take care of the daily maintenance of your counters.

There are many products on the market that claim to clean granite. But there is no need to spend money on cleaning products!  Granite manufacturers and industry professionals, all agree that the best and safest way to clean your granite is with soapy water.

Helpful tips to avoid stains and to remove stains from your granite countertop!

    • Remember to wipe up spills when they happen, avoid letting spills sit and absorb into your granite.  Even though granite is known to be stain resilient it is better to be safe than sorry. Certain foods and liquids can stain porous granite, it also depends on your granite color
    • If you do get a stain on your granite, we suggest creating a paste with baking soda and water for oil-based stains, or baking soda and hydrogen peroxide for water-based stains. Slather the paste over the stain and allow it to sit on the surface for several hours, covered. When you're ready to clean it up, wipe away the paste, and clean with a warm wash cloth and a small amount of dish soap.

Why is Granite the popular choice for kitchens and bathrooms?

Today, granite is the popular choice.  20 years ago, granite was used far and few in between.  Kitchens and bathrooms were rarely found to have granite.  However today granite is the norm for all kitchen and bathroom upgrades.  It is the first thing that people look for in an up to date living space.

The first thing that attracts the masses to granite is the look.  Granite is truly attractive on the eyes and is a luxurious stone.  Being a natural stone, there will not ever be two pieces that look exactly alike.  Granite countertops come in an endless array of colors and each piece possess its own unique identity.

Another extremely attractive facet of granites is the huge impact it has on a home’s value.  Research has shown that it can increase a home’s value by over 10%.

For far too long, granite was only seen in the most lavish places, which is most likely why granite countertops has a perception of true wealth and grandeur.  As it stands, granite countertops are a timeless upgrade to your home.  They can be customized to your every preference.

In short, granite countertops in both your kitchen and bathrooms will create a true look and feel of a high end flare while increasing your home’s overall value.  Granite countertops are a cost effective luxury no one should live without.
