Homeowners Love Granite Kitchen Countertops
Are you planning a kitchen remodel in the near future? Are you considering Granite for your countertops? No matter what material you are considering we will give you the reasons why granite is and has been the popular choice among homeowners. Two well know reasons are because of their natural beauty and minimal maintenance. Keep reading to learn why more and more homeowners are installing granite countertops in their homes.
Granite Slabs are Unique
For homeowners looking for a countertop surface design that’s completely unique to their home, granite can be a great material. All granite slabs are unique.
Granite comes in many different colors to fit your design preferences and the interior design of your home. For example, black granite countertops give your kitchen a touch of sophistication and luxury. Adds Value to Your Home
Whether you are looking to sell your home in the near future or you are planning on staying in your home for many years to come, there are many benefits of granite countertops. Not only do granite countertops add a classic ambiance to any kitchen, but they are also attractive to prospective home-buyers. For example, if a home-buyer is looking at two similar houses in the same price bracket, they are more likely to choose the home with newly-installed granite countertops.
According to HGTV, minor kitchen remodels (like granite countertop installation) offer a return on investment of approximately 92.9%. To determine if granite countertops are the best kitchen remodel for your money, we recommend that you contact us to discuss your options. Replacing kitchen countertops can help improve the look of your home for years to come.
Low Maintenance Countertops
Maintenance for granite countertops is minimal. Simply clean your countertops with hot water and mild soap. Since granite is less porous than other countertop materials, such as marble, the chance of staining is significantly less. However, if you do stain the surface of your granite countertop, we recommend that you make a paste out of baking soda and water and gently try to scrub the stain out with a soft washcloth. This simple trick takes care of most granite countertop stains.
Sanitary Surfaces
Granite countertops are resistant against bacterial contamination. This means that you can prepare and cook with confidence, knowing that your family is protected from strains of bacteria living on your countertop surfaces. Of course, it’s also important to exercise food safety habits, such as cleaning kitchen countertops before and after use meal preparation and cooking.

Chiseled Edge Granite Countertops Rock!
"Chiseled Edge" also known as "Raw Edge" is a Natural Beauty
When it comes to selecting the perfect granite countertop for your home, you’ve got a lot of options to choose from. Besides picking color, style, finish, and making sure that your new granite countertop matches your cabinets and other fixtures, you also have to choose an edge for your granite. There are several edge options to choose from when selecting granite countertops, including bullnose, bevel, and straight edges. But there is another option that will add unique character to your kitchen and that edge is called " chiseled edge" or "raw edge".
Chiseled edge will bring a very different look to your granite countertops than bullnose, bevel, or other edges, lending your kitchen a more natural or rustic appearance. This obviously isn’t right for every kitchen, but it can be surprisingly versatile, bringing a more organic feeling to kitchens that might otherwise feel too cold or industrial, or accentuating beautifully more warm, rugged, or rustic décor. Chiseled edged granite is also perfect for outdoor kitchens, where its rugged and natural appearance make it an ideal fit.
While the chiseled/raw edge may make granite countertops look like the slabs were just snapped off, if that was what actually happened they would make a much less aesthetically satisfying and much less practical finish. So instead, the raw edge effect is created by chiseling the edges off the granite slab, with a tool or machine. This creates a ragged but also sufficiently uniform edge that looks natural but is safe from sharp spurs or other imperfections.

Summer is the Perfect Season for a Kitchen Remodel
You’ve come to the conclusion that you need to remodel your kitchen, and you’re trying to figure out when the best time to do this would be. There are a lot of factors you need to take into consideration when thinking about a remodel, and timing is everything. Fortunately, it’s summer, and aside from being a great season in general, it’s also the perfect time to remodel, especially when the remodeling is taking place in your kitchen. Keep reading to discover the five reasons you should consider remodeling your kitchen during the summer, from ease of cooking and ventilation benefits to more available materials and contractors, as well as the benefit of having less interruptions.
Cooking & Entertaining
Summer is definitely a great season for picnics, swim parties, hosting BBQs and entertaining. Fortunately, all of these events take place outdoors and not in your kitchen. This gives you ample opportunity to tear the kitchen apart to get to work on your dream kitchen remodeling project, while still being able to eat and entertain during the project, as the weather is much more forgiving than in the spring and fall months. In fact, with the right grill – meaning one that has side burners – you won’t need your kitchen at all to prepare delicious and healthy meals. This is the first reason summer is the perfect time for remodeling your kitchen.
Ventilation
Although many people choose to remodel kitchens during the spring and fall, there is one concern – weather and ventilating. During the summer, you can open the windows and doors to let the dust out, dry paint, tile flooring, and granite countertop installations. Each of these events can be difficult to contend with during the spring and fall months, when the weather is wet and/or cold, and difficult to deal with. Summer allows for warm dry air most of the time, which helps during the remodeling process.
Family Vacations
If you are choosing a contractor you trust, you have a definite advantage during the summer – going on vacation. Summer is the most popular season for taking a family vacation, going camping, or heading to the golf course. With the family out of the way – so to speak – you and your contractor will be able to work without interruption. Not only does this provide you with a more focused mind, but it allows the project to run more smoothly. This is yet another reason why remodeling a kitchen during the summer is a great idea.
Natural Lighting
Another great benefit to choosing to remodel your kitchen in the summer is natural lighting. When you are looking at cabinets, granite countertops, and flooring during the spring and fall, you are limited on natural lighting. This means that you are viewing these materials in only fluorescent lighting, which can give you the wrong idea about what color something really is. This allows you to see how your design choices will look when the sunlight is shining through your windows.
Besides, being able to look at things with more natural light allows their natural beauty to shine through. In addition, you will have the ability to close the curtains to see how these materials will look the rest of the year, when sunlight is limited. This allows you to get the exact shades of flooring, granite countertops, and cabinets you desire to complete your kitchen remodeling project.
Remodeling your kitchen is a big decision, and having the right amount of time, the right contractor and the perfect season can make all the difference. As you have learned, spring and fall are the traditional times of year that kitchen remodels take place. However, there are many benefits to having this project completed during the summer. From being able to use your outdoor kitchen during the process, or sending your family on vacation to avoid interruption, to having natural lighting... summer is the perfect season for a kitchen remodel!

How do I clean my granite countertops?
SOAPY WATER AND SOFT CLOTH
Yes, it's that easy!
The best way to clean granite countertops is by mixing a little dish detergent and warm water. This soapy mixture followed by rinsing and then drying with microfiber cloths will take care of the daily maintenance of your counters.
There are many products on the market that claim to clean granite. But there is no need to spend money on cleaning products! Granite manufacturers and industry professionals, all agree that the best and safest way to clean your granite is with soapy water.
Helpful tips to avoid stains and to remove stains from your granite countertop!
- Remember to wipe up spills when they happen, avoid letting spills sit and absorb into your granite. Even though granite is known to be stain resilient it is better to be safe than sorry. Certain foods and liquids can stain porous granite, it also depends on your granite color.
- If you do get a stain on your granite, we suggest creating a paste with baking soda and water for oil-based stains, or baking soda and hydrogen peroxide for water-based stains. Slather the paste over the stain and allow it to sit on the surface for several hours, covered. When you're ready to clean it up, wipe away the paste, and clean with a warm wash cloth and a small amount of dish soap.

Stacked stone backsplash are a luxurious addition to any kitchen. When considering backsplash ideas, it’s important to note proximity to heat sources in your kitchen. Stacked stone backsplash will provide a more natural look compared to tile and basic stone backsplash because of its jagged edges and unevenness. This creates the whole natural rocky effect.
